As the Department of Inclusive German Language Education, we focus on inclusive language and literature education and look at the symbolic system of language from a linguistic and ontogenetic point of view. The main research focuses are the school and out-of-school environment processes and circumstances of language-, speech- and literacy development in heterogeneous conditions.
The department’s work areas include the investigation of early literacy processes and multimodal interactions practices in the family, the development and evaluation of concepts for the promotion of monolingual and multilingual language, speech and written language acquisition in kindergartens and schools, the analysis and systematization of linguistic and multimodal structures in children’s literature for the inclusive teaching of German, and the development of materials for the promotion of reading and spelling. In addition, we focus on interactive processes in inclusive schoolseetings and in language support contexts, with a focus on speaking, listening and dialogical interaction, as well as on the professional linguistic and multimodal actions of practioners and teachers in educational interactions.
