Teaching at the Department
Within the Bachelor's programme, the field of Speech-Language Therapy and Inclusive Education focuses primarily on language and communication, language development, and linguistic education.
At the Master's level, this corresponds to two distinct specialisations: a school-based focus on language (Master of Education in Special Needs Education, M.Ed.) and an extracurricular focus on language and communication therapy (Master’s programme in Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation Sciences with a specialisation in Language and Communication Therapy, abbreviated as SKT).
During the Bachelor's programme, students may select specific profiles as compulsory components of their studies. A distinctive feature of the programme is the Language and Communication profile. In combination with the corresponding course registration requirements, this profile enables students to apply for accreditation in speech-language therapy with the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Regulation (GKV) in the field of child language upon completion of their Bachelor's degree. This provides access to a clearly defined and promising professional pathway immediately after graduation.
Following the Bachelor's degree, students may enrol in one of the two Master's programmes. In addition, it is possible to combine both professional fields—school-based education and speech-language therapy – by pursuing a double Master’s degree. This requires the completion of specific elective modules as well as selected courses taken either additionally or in parallel within the Master’s programme.
