International Symposium “SLT in Africa – From Early detection to AAC”

The international cooperation project „SpeechBase – Speech, Language and Hearing Resources for Subsaharan Africa” between the Institute for Special Education of the Leibniz University of Hannover (GER), University of Pretoria (ZAF), Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Science (TAN), Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (TAN), and Kenyatta University (KEN), presents the two-day virtual conference carried out by University of Pretoria, on 16th and 17th November 2021:

Contextually relevant speech-language therapy for young children living in Africa: Rethinking early detection, language sample analysis and augmentative and alternative communication

In presentations between 15 and 45 minutes, SpeechBase team members, researchers of University of Pretoria and Leibniz University of Hannover and external experts inform about SLP-relevant topics such as language analysis tools, child speech databases, augmented and alternative communication (AAC) and early detection. The launch of the Speechbase portal as a free resource for SLT in sub-Saharan Africa will take place as well.
