Speech - Intercation - Participation
When we speak, we use our voice, our hands and our whole body. Gestures, facial expressions and prosody are therefore also communicative movements and an integral part of speech, contributing significantly to the function of expression in interaction. Since we use many of these multimodal means unconsciously, they can enable participation or, unintentionally, prevent it.
Under the guiding principle of "Language – Interaction – Participation", the SpeechLab at LUH investigates the role and function of multimodal interaction in the family, daycare, teaching and speech therapy from a conversational analysis and sociological perspective. We develop concepts for the qualification of educators, specialists and teachers in the field of non-verbal and verbal communication.
