  • Adaptive dialogic reading in different learning environments. Supporting multilingual children’s grammar acquisition through picture books with different linguistic structures
    Duration:10/2022-09/2026
    Function:Project manager
Project team:Dr. Christine Beckerle, Prof. Dr. Katja Mackowiak, Prof. Dr. Christiane Miosga, Prof. Dr. Claudia Müllers-Brauers, Fenja Lampe, Rebecca Stein & Alena Töpke (Leibniz Universität Hannover)
    Funding:BMBF/BMBFSFJ
    Abstract:

Dialogic reading (DR) helps to support (multilingual) children in their linguistic and cognitive skills and prepare them for written and academic language. The adaptive shape of DL is relevant here. In ADIL, DR is situated in formal and informal learning environments (e.g., daycare, elementary school, after-school care, early intervention, family). The focus is on the triad of adult interaction partner, child, and picture books with different linguistic structures.

The following aims are pursued: 1. Conditions for successful adaptive DR are identified on the basis of video analyses; 2. adaptive DR is transferred into practice by providing students with intensive training and supporting them in implementing DR in different learning environments; 3. this measure is evaluated, on the one hand formatively (continuous further development of the process) and summative (analysis of students' adaptive DR skills and the grammatical skills of multilingual children).

  • Adaptive learning support in inclusive daycare centers (Leik-adaptiv)
    Duration:01/2022-02/2025
    Function:Project manager
Project team:Prof. Dr. Claudia Schomaker, Prof. Dr. Katja Mackowiak, Dr. Heike Wadepohl, Dr. Christine Beckerle, Kathrin Hormann, Theresa Johannsen, Lisa Keller, Laisa Quittkat (Leibniz Universität Hannover)
Funding:Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF)
Abstract:The LeiK-adaptiv project focuses on adaptive learning support provided by kindergarten teachers in inclusive daycare centers. It will be examined and further developed in teacher-child interactions in everyday daycare settings in three areas of education: language, cognition and science. In order to provide adaptive support for children's learning processes, there needs to be a close interplay between diagnostics and promotion of skills. Individual children's learning prerequisites, interests, and needs must be identified and taken into account in the interactions. This places high demands on the teachers’ skills. Studies show that these skills vary greatly and that linguistically and cognitively stimulating interactions rarely occur in everyday daycare life. Since such high-quality interactions are particularly relevant for (school) development and counteract educational disadvantage among children at risk, they will be examined in LeiK-adaptiv. The aim is, on the one hand, to conceptualize and analyze adaptivity in learning-supportive teacher-child interactions in everyday daycare life and, on the other hand, to further develop tachers’ professional skills with regard to everyday adaptive (linguistically, cognitively, and scientifically stimulating) learning support. The project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (funding code: 01MV2127, project duration: 01/2022-02/2025).

  • Cognitive Activation in inclusive childcare institutions (KoAkiK II): Sustainable implementation and diferential effectiveness of the KoAkiK training program
    Duration:01/2019 -12/2021
    Function:Project manager
Project team:Dr. Heike Wadepohl, Prof. Dr. Rolf Werning, Prof. Dr. Claudia Schomaker & Dr. Michael Lichtblau, Lisa Keller, Cathleen Bethke, Stefani Linck, Matthias Mai, Kathrin Hormann, Anke von Garmissen (Leibniz Universität Hannover); Prof. Dr. Ulla Walter, Julia Feesche (Medizinische Hochschule Hannover)
Funding:Federal State of Lower Saxony, Ministry for Science and Culture
Abstract:The KoAkiK II project aims to implement the content of the KoAkiK training program into everyday daycare center life in a sustainable manner. It also analyzes how long-term and sustainable the intended training effects are one year after completing the training, the extent to which children with different developmental conditions or specific risk factors benefit from the skills of the teachers, and what moderating effects can be observed within the child-family-daycare center triad. The project was funded by the Federal State of Lower Saxony, Ministry for Science and Culture (project duration: 01/2019-06/2022).

  • Cognitive Activation in inclusive childcare institutions (KoAkiK): Promoting children’s learning processes in inclusive child care centers through the further development of professional skills in cognitively activating teacher-child interactions
    Duration:05/2017 -09/2020
    Function:Project manager
    Project team:Prof. Dr. Rolf Werning, Prof. Dr. Claudia Schomaker & Dr. Michael Lichtblau, Dr. Heike Wadepohl, Matthias Mai, Cathleen Bethke, Stefani Linck, Dr. Antje Rothe, Lisa Disep, Kathrin Hormann (Leibniz Universität Hannover);

Abstract:The KoAkiK project aims to further develop the professional skills of kindergarten teachers in inclusive daycare centers in the area of cognitively activating teacher-child interactions through further training, thereby sustainably anchoring everyday stimulation and support for children's learning and educational processes. The effects of the KoAkiK training (consisting of continuing education and implementation support) are being examined at both, teacher and child levels. The project focuses on the educational goals of “developing cognitive skills and the joy of learning” and “body – movement – health” and pays particular attention to children from socio-economically and socio-culturally disadvantaged backgrounds. The project was funded by the Federal State of Lower Saxony, Ministry for Science and Culture (project duration: 01/2017-09/2020

Projektteam:Dr. Christine Beckerle (LUH), Prof. Dr. Katja Koch, Tina von Daper-Saalfels (TU Braunschweig), Prof. Dr. Cordula Löffler, Ina Pauer, Julian Heil (PH Weingarten)
