Special education is concerned with the fields of education, training, rehabilitation and social participation of people who live with development difficulties and require special support. Special education is not a different, special education, but an education which deals with specific questions related to special problems.

Special Education at Leibniz University Hannover
Research and teaching in special education is carried out at Leibniz University in the basic subject areas General Special Education and Sociology, Special Needs Psychology as well as in the nine special educational areas Inclusive School Development / Education for Learning Disabilities and Education for Persons with Behavioural Difficulties, Speech Pedagogy and Therapy, Education for Intellectual Development Disorders, General Studies and Inclusive Didactics, Didactics of Symbol Systems – Mathematics, Didactics of Symbol Systems – German, Vocational Orientation in Inclusive Contexts as well as Learning Disabilities Education.
